I rarely have time to read the listserv and Community Forum, but once in awhile I get to. Sally usually keeps me informed about discussions regarding clinical trials. I’m currently working on several LAM studies with Dr. Brent Kinder, a physician from the University of Cincinnati. One of the studies we have initiated includes a questionnaire regarding clinical trials to determine what factors may be involved in a decision to participate or not to participate in a treatment trial for LAM. To assist with this study, we plan to form a small focus group that consists of women who:
1) have made the decision not to participate;
2) are currently participating in a trial;
3) are undecided;
4) would like to participate, but do not qualify.
Being in the focus group would include participating in 1-2 conference calls to discuss yours thoughts about enrolling in LAM clinical trials or thoughts other LAM patients have shared with you. The call would be of no cost to you – we would provide a 1-800 number. Please email me at
sbyrnes@thelamfoundation.org if you are willing to participate in the focus group. When you respond, please let me know which numbers above apply to you at this point in time (we realize that could change).
