So anyway, just to update those who may have been curious, I went to have my ovaries removed (BSO) and my bowel was nicked going in so I ended up with a total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH).  I had this done not due to LAM but due to dysmenorrhea and other issues I may have posted about.

Pathology findings show endometriosis among other things which is odd since I hadn't actually had a period in many, many years (was on depo-provera).  I'll be sending those and my last CT's from NIH to Dr. McCormack I hope soon when I can get out and about better to see what he thinks.  My gyne said the path reports are "odd".  Not bad, just very unexpected.

I'm recovering well and am actually very happy at how everything has turned out, especially considering the pathology findings.  I'm also planning on spending this summer trying to get into better shape, I've really let things slide and I'd like to get back in shape so I can breathe better.

Sharon,

I hope that you will soon be feeling better and able to be much more active.  I find that when I am I feel so much better mentally and physically.  Dr. Moss at NIH one time said to think of exercise as a prescription that we take to feel better.  Some days that is the only thing that spurs me to get out of bed earlier than I might otherwise!

It will be interesting to get a take on your results from a "LAM perspective".  We are unique!

Take care.

I know Mary, I really am interested to see if there's any link between these results and LAM.  As you know, I think, I'm not even definitely diagnosed with LAM now due to the lack of additional problems and no biopsy.

Oh, I did have some breathing issues in the hospital. I stayed on oxygen for an extra day, and quite a few times had very low 02 which concerned some of the nurses.

So far I've lost 10 pounds, and to recover from the surgery, I was told to make sure I walk.  Well, this has me in a better place now to really get with the program and get back to my pre-LAM (or as  close as I can be) shape.  With the summer off work, and the start of a regular, albeit not strenuous, activity, I think I can overall improve my fitness, which will then improve my ability to do things and not get so short of breath.  And yeah, just the thought of it makes me feel better and more capable.

Thanks for the feedback!  I am feeling good.  Not allowed to take hormones, and I'm getting hot flashes, but it's all good.  Smiley

OK, no link between the pathology and LAM according to Dr. McCormack.  However, I did find out that I can participate in some research they are doing there remotely by sending in blood samples, so I'll be doing that.
