I have asthma in addition to LAM so I take the medications for asthma which include Advair.  If I accidentally miss a dose I definitely notice that my breathing is not as good.  However, this doesn't really address your question.  I know that a number of the women with LAM (but not asthma) also take medications like Advair and feel that it definitely improves their breathing.

Advair reduces inflammation in the respiratory tract so if that is a problem then Advair would probably improve that.

I also wondered if the Advair was really helping me.  Then I ran out with no refills on the prescription and I was going out of town that day!  I was off of it for 4 days and I felt more out of breath and some chest tightness.  I started again when I got home and have been feeling much better.  For difficult days and before exercise, I also use Albuterol.

Well I guess I won't be going off Advair anytime soon.  Thanks for the imput.  I also use Albuterol before exercise or any major physical exertion. This I feel really helps alot.  On my PFT's I showed a 16% increase in lung function when I use Albuterol.  I am still waiting for something new and better!!!  Aren't we all...lol.

Thanks,
Beth

Advir helps alot with me. I have asthma in addition to lams. I also have allergies as well to the outside such as pollen and rag weed.

I also have albuterol which helps as well. I think as long as it is helping and you stay with it, you should be ok. I am new to having lams myself but asthma I have had for several years now as it runs in my family along with allergies.

Hope this helps. The best way to know for sure if it is helping you is to keep in touch with your doctor. They know for sure and can prescribe something else for your asthma if it isnt.

I have really bad allergies as well (i used to get shots once a week as a kid...ragweed, pollen, grass, pet dander).  Do you have skin issues?  I do and I feel all this started after my 1st pregancy.  The breathing issues, skin issues, fatique and alot of my hair fell out (thank god it came back...lol).  I wonder if this is all connected?

I have asthma also, and I've noticed a big change from being on Advair. If I don't take my Advair or run out, I notice my breathing is a little bit labored compared to when I'm on it. I'm also curious to see if it has any benefit for LAM-only people.
