I took this drug (as Immodium) during a trip to Peru when I ate something that caused diarrhea.  It worked wonderfully for me.  I don't believe that it is meant to be taken long term.  It seems to work very quickly.

There is a good summary on all aspects of the drug and using it at the Mayo Clinic website.  The link is below.  I think it should answer most questions you may have about it.

Hope it works for you.

How long has it been going on? Does you have a fever? What can you eat? Is there any other pain?

I need more info to help. But if your stomach's the only thing hurting, then tell you to take a Tums.

Hahaha..those mixture will definitely make your stomach upset..milk and beer?! Anyway, Loperamide us a synthetic piperidine derivative, also, is a drug effective against diarrhea resulting from gastroenteritis or inflammatory bowel disease.

Hope that helps..
