We are constantly amazed by the fundraisers that many LAM patients, family and friends conduct each year.  Below we’ve listed some fundraising ideas that people in the LAM Foundation community have had success with.  Fundraisers for The LAM Foundation come in all types and sizes.

A BIRTHDAY TO REMEMBER

You may be more inspiring that you realize. Many LAM patients have inspired their family and friends to donate to The LAM Foundation in lieu of birthday gifts.  In addition, many family members and friends of LAM patients are also sharing their birthday with The LAM Foundation!  This act of kindness brings awareness and funds to The LAM Foundation.

COMMUNITY BUILDING AND FUNDRAISING

One LAM patient has been working diligently to raise funds for The LAM Foundation through her annual event, Laps for LAM.  Each year she coordinates with the local high school to use their track, she sets the date for her event, and then she begins asking people in her community for donations to take up the fight against LAM.  This branded event for The LAM Foundation has already inspired one spin off.  In 2010 another person joined the Laps for LAM team and held her first walk in Utah.  Would you like to start a Laps for LAM in your area?

PARTY WITH A PURPOSE

Do you have a group of friends that love a good cocktail party?  One family holds a cocktail party and auction, an Evening of Hope, each year.  This silent auction/cocktail party has been growing so much in their community that there are people who attend that no one in the family knows directly!  Plan a game night, swim party, Super Bowl party, etc and “charge” your guests a donation to The LAM Foundation in order to attend.  Consider planning a party with a purpose with friends and family for an enjoyable evening while creating LAM awareness and raising funds at the same time.

LAM-N-AID STAND

Not interested in planning an annual event?  There are plenty of ways to fundraise for The LAM Foundation quickly and easily.  One LAM patient provided the LAM community with an adorable example of a meaningful, lucrative and simple fundraiser for The LAM Foundation.  One hot summer day, her grandchildren set up a lemonade stand on their street and quenched the thirst of people in their neighborhood all while taking up the fight against LAM.  They sold LAM bracelets and included a LAM Foundation brochure with each cup of lemonade they sold.

LETTER-WRITING CAMPAIGN

This type of fundraiser has been very successful in the LAM community.  One mother of a LAM patient raised over $8,000 in five weeks with a hand-written letter.  One LAM patient told her story for the first time to her friends and family through her letter-writing campaign and raised over $25,000!  Most letter campaigns average $1,500.  Anyone can start a letter-writing campaign and we can help you tell your story.
