Tissue Donation

As a woman living with LAM, you can actively power LAM research by donating your tissue at the time of surgery or lung transplantation.

The LAM Foundation partners with the National Disease Research Interchange (NDRI) to collect surgical tissue samples and detailed information from LAM patients to aid in accelerating research efforts related to LAM.

Because successful collection of tissue for research requires careful planning by you, your surgical team, and our tissue recovery team, it is important that you plan well in advance.

To learn more about the tissue donation process, please contact The LAM Foundation, or visit our LAM Tissue Repository page on the NDRI website here

WHAT: Donate tissue from a lung transplant, hysterectomy, oophorectomy, pleurectomy, nephrectomy, or biopsy.

WHEN: Call The LAM Foundation as soon as your surgery is scheduled or as soon as you are being evaluated for transplant.
WHO: Please contact Patient Services at 1-877-CURE-LAM (877-287-3526) or by email at PatientServices@thelamfoundation.org.

This [my lung transplant] was also an amazing opportunity to donate my old lungs for LAM research. Knowing that my lungs were used for LAM research at several centers gives me great joy and hope. What a blessing to give back and help find a cure!” – Zariah Benedict, LAM Patient
