Ways You Can Help Raise Funds

You can make a difference in the future of LAM! Over 90% of funds donated to The LAM Foundation have been made in honor or memory of a woman with LAM. Whether virtual or in-person, there is no effort too big or too small – it’s all up to what works for you! Below are some excellent examples of the events that have been successful over the years, and tools to help get you started. How will you get involved?

Online and Virtual Fundraising

In this time of social distancing, social media and technology, it’s easy to raise funds online. The LAM Foundation can help you set up your own donation page to share with friends and family across the globe.  Click on the How To instructions below, add your pictures and your story, and you’ll have your very own fundraising page in minutes to share on social media, email, or your own website. Click below for inspiration from past fundraisers, or come up with your own idea. Have questions, or need help setting up your site? Contact our Development Team at 513-777-6889 or development@thelamfoundation.org.

Create A Facebook Fundraiserplus

Facebook makes it easier than ever for you to fundraise for The LAM Foundation by asking your family and friends to donate to The LAM Foundation directly in a post. You can get started by going here: https://www.facebook.com/TheLAMFoundation. Click the gray “+Create Fundraiser” button, and then the blue “Get Started” button. From there, you can set your goal, and the date your fundraiser will end.

On the next page, you can create your title, and write a blurb about why you’re raising money – or you can use part or all of what’s already written for you! On the page after that, you can select a photo – we have some available, including our logo, or you can upload a new photo of anything you like.

Once you’re all set, hit the “Create” button, and this will take you to your own Facebook fundraising page – from here you can invite your friends, share the page, make posts, change your goals, upload new photos, and more.

Create Virtual Letters for LAM plus

When Jen was diagnosed, the first thing she wanted to do was raise funds for LAM. She wrote to her family and friends to tell them about the disease, what it was doing to her body, and how they could help. An outpouring of support from her community followed, showing there is nothing like telling your story – whether it’s online or on paper!

Community Fundraising Ideas

Hosting an event right in your own community is one of the best ways to raise funds for LAM. Invite your family, friends, coworkers and neighbors to join you in an event that’s meaningful to you. Start with something your community will want to be involved in, whether that’s a golf outing, a walk, a demolition derby, a yoga class or just a really great party. The LAM Foundation is here to help you plan your event. We’ll even set up a website for you to register attendees and take donations.  Have questions? Want to brainstorm about your idea? Call (513) 777-6889 or email development@thelamfoundation.org.

Galas, Parties and Special Eventsplus

An Evening of Hope Beer & Wine Tasting

The McKenna Family

The McKenna family has been hosting their beer and wine tasting event, An Evening of Hope, for the last 12 years. In that time, the McKennas have raised over $100,000 to support The LAM Foundation!

Crawfish Boil

Sisters Katie and Stefanie own a bar together in Nashville, TN. They teamed up with a generous patron to put on this fun event every year that includes live entertainment, beer, t-shirts, and lots of crawfish!

Day of Discovery

The Pontz family hosted a Day of Discovery in Philadelphia, PA. This fun event was family-friendly and focused on discovering new forms of art (like bronze casting) while raising funds for LAM.

Walks and Runsplus

Kathi was blown away by the support of her coworkers and community when she planned her first SLAM LAM 5K walk in Houston, TX. At her first-ever fundraiser, Kathi raised over $38,000 for LAM, thanks to the support of her entire community. Check out the video at the top of the page for more on SLAM LAM!

Laps for LAM

Chowchilla, CA, has only 11,000 residents, but that doesn’t stop Peggy from hosting a successful event! Laps for LAM encourages attendees to walk up to 15 miles around the high school track in support of The LAM Foundation. For tired feet, there’s a silent auction, raffle, and more. Despite the small size of her community, Peggy raised over $11,000 last year!

Golf Outingsplus

Tee It Up for LAM

Two Chicago-area LAM families got together to host this successful golf outing and dinner in Huntley, IL. LAM Clinic Director Dr. Dan Dilling even attended to show his support! The Glasbys and Peiffers look forward to hosting many more events together.

Corporate Golf Outings

Corporations often hold golf outings for charity. Both Morphotek, Inc. and the Construction Advancement Foundation donated proceeds from their annual golf tournament to The LAM Foundation in honor of an employee with LAM. Check with your HR office about how to get your company involved in raising funds for LAM!

Write Letters for LAMplus

You don’t need to host an event to fundraise for The LAM Foundation! Brent Benefield turned to his friends, family and co-workers with a good old-fashioned letter. The letter explains what LAM is, why we need support, and how to donate (to see an example letter, click here). After beating his fundraising goal of $10,000, Brent noted, “I felt truly blessed to know how much our friends and family cared about Kristy’s condition, and how glad they were to donate”. Click here to read Brent’s guest blog on LAM360.
