We’ve already seen what happens when the LAM community comes together.

We listen. We learn. We speak up. And then we turn what we’ve learned into action.

Dr. Lyndsay Hoy has been at the heart of that work. As Vice Chair of Strategy and Mission on The LAM Foundation’s Board of Directors, and as a woman living with LAM, she brings both professional expertise and personal experience to her advocacy.

A Champion for Women Living with LAM

Dr. Hoy has spent years helping our community make its voice heard.

Leaning into the results of LAM-PREP, we were able to better understand how women with LAM navigate diagnosis, care, and major decisions across their lives.

LAM-PREP gave the Foundation more than data. It gave us direction.

What we learned helped deepen The LAM Foundation’s commitment to the intersection of rare disease and women’s health.

The lessons and experiences of the LAM community are becoming part of conversations with medical societies and national women’s health organizations. In those spaces, Dr.  Hoy is raising awareness; highlighting how women’s healthcare can be fragmented, and those gaps can be especially difficult for women living with rare diseases.

Dr. Spector sees that commitment every day. “Her work as a champion to eradicate this disease and provide a supportive community for patients is so important.”

Now, our community has a chance to help amplify our shared goals.

Dr. Hoy is one of three finalists for Philadelphia Magazine’s Health Hero award. Winning would bring $15,000 to The LAM Foundation. The opportunity is about more than the prize.

It is a chance to bring LAM, women’s rare diseases, and the work of this community into a much larger public conversation.

In July, the LAM community rallied and helped move Dr. Hoy from one of ten semifinalists to one of three finalists. Now we need one more big rally.
