Dr. Lyndsay Hoy Appointed Chief Mission Officer of The LAM Foundation

The Board of Directors is pleased and excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Lyndsay Hoy as the inaugural Chief Mission Officer (CMO) of The LAM Foundation.

The CMO will play a pivotal role in leading and advancing the mission-driven initiatives of The LAM Foundation. As a key member of the executive leadership team and Board of Directors, the CMO will collaborate with the incoming Executive Director and Scientific Director and also be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing strategic planning and activities that align with our organization’s mission. The creation of this new volunteer position reflects the Board’s ongoing commitment to women living with LAM through strategic leadership and advocacy initiatives.

“Dr. Hoy’s appointment as CMO marks a new chapter for The LAM Foundation,” said Board Chair Chuck Wehland. “Her leadership will open new opportunities for accelerated research and treatment for the LAM community.”

Dr. Hoy’s contributions are enriched by her unique perspective as a physician, LAM patient, and dedicated LAM advocate. She completed her undergraduate studies at Washington University in St. Louis and earned her medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago. Dr. Hoy subsequently finished her anesthesiology residency at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine  where she has been on faculty since 2016. Since her appointment to The LAM Foundation’s Board of Directors in 2022, Dr. Hoy has served as Board Vice Chair as well as Chair of the Science and Medicine Committee. In these roles, Dr. Hoy championed LAM PREP, a patient-centered research priorities initiative supported by the Foundation. As CMO, Dr. Hoy will remain dedicated to integrating the patient perspective into Foundation strategic decision-making processes. She is eager to cultivate relationships within the LAM community in addition to other nonprofits, research institutions, and industry partners.

Beyond her involvement with The LAM Foundation, Dr. Hoy is a leader in physician well-being and integrating arts and humanities curriculum into medical education. Dr. Hoy has been an invited speaker at several institutions including the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, among others. In 2021, Dr. Hoy became the sole physician recipient of The Sachs Program for Arts Innovation grant at the University of Pennsylvania. She co-authored a book, Rx/Museum: 52 Essays on Art and Medicine, in 2022. Dr. Hoy is a recent Harvard Macy fellow, and her work has been recognized by the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Association of American Medical Colleges and featured in Anesthesiology and The Washington Post.

“Having worked alongside Dr. Hoy I have witnessed her vision, passion, creativity, energy and commitment to advancing The LAM Foundation mission,” said Scientific Director Dr. Vera Krymskaya. “With her unique perspective as a mother, doctor and a patient living with LAM, it is clear that The LAM Foundation will benefit tremendously from Lyndsay’s leadership and vision.”

Join us in extending a warm welcome to Dr. Lyndsay Hoy as she assumes this significant leadership role in The LAM Foundation.
